Flexion/Distraction Technique

Flexion/distraction is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses a special table to slowly stretch and move the spine in a smooth, rhythmic motion, with no twisting or forceful thrusting. At Good Neighbor Chiropractic of WNY in Clarence, Dr. Julie Gross, DC, MSACN will talk with you about whether it is a good fit for your body and health history.

Who Flexion/Distraction May Help

  • Sciatica, or back pain that travels into the hip or leg

  • Patients with bulging or herniated discs

  • Anyone with low back pain or tight, achy back or neck muscles

  • People who want a gentler adjustment style

  • Those who lift, stand, or sit all day

  • Anyone who wants a relaxed, comfortable visit

What to Expect

Your first visit starts with a conversation and an exam before any treatment. A flexion/distraction session itself takes about 15 minutes. A visit may include:

  • A review of your health history and goals

  • An exam to find where your spine is stiff or sore

  • A clear explanation of what we find

  • A gentle, rhythmic stretch on a padded table

  • A plan for next steps and guidance to follow at home

You are always in control. If you have questions or concerns, we will talk them through before we begin.
